How do I prepare my iPhone for sending to Tech Octopus?

Before sending your iPhone back to us, we recommend taking the following steps:

  1. Unpair any other apple device (such as an Apple Watch) if you have one connected to your iPhone
  2. Backup all of the data on your iPhone to iCloud or your computer
  3. Sign out of iCloud - Find out how to unpair your device
  4. Remove your SIM card from the iPhone
  5. Factory reset your iPhone to erase any data, pictures and apps. Don't worry if you forget this part as we'll wipe your device on arrival
  6. Remove any case or screen protector that you may have on your device. If we receive these, we'll dispose of the items
  7. Make sure you give your iPhone a good clean and make sure there's no dirt or dust that could affect our diagnostic test

Do you buy faulty iPhones?

We know that people do their best to take care of their iPhones, but even with all the care in the world, accidents can still happen. Despite having a case or a screen protector, iPhones can easily get damaged. Whether this be a smashed screen, cracked LCD, broken rear glass dents or scuffs, or even heavy scratches.

There's still value in your iPhone, even if it does have problems. By replacing a screen or battery an iPhone can be re-used and put back into circulation. You could be amazed at what price you could still get for that iPhone that's been sat in a drawer for a few years.

Don't spend the time, money and effort getting your iPhone repaired, and get a quote today to see how much you could get by selling your broken Apple device with Tech Octopus.

Although we aim to recycle and refurbish as many iPhones as possible, there are a few occasions where we're unable to offer you a value. If your iPhone is bent or it doesn't power on whatsoever then we can't buy it from you.

How much is my iPhone worth?

If you’re looking to sell your old iPhone for the best price, you’re come to the right place! We compare the best prices in the market and aim to pay a fair value on a huge range of iPhone smartphones. Plus we'll process and pay you on the same day your items arrive.

There's a number of factors that affect the price you can get when trading your iPhone. The model and age of the device, what network the iPhone is locked to, what storage capacity the iPhone has, and what condition the iPhone is in. We offer 4 conditions when selling: Pristine, Good, Poor, and Faulty. Please read our condition descriptions carefully as the price we offer and eventually pay is based on the condition of the device. This includes a visual as well as a functional check.

If your Apple phone has clear evidence of damage then don't worry, we can still buy this from you. Just make sure you choose 'Faulty' when selling.

You might not be aware, but the price of technology depreciates on a regular basis, so make sure you don't delay and sell your iPhone today and lock the price in for 14 days.

When will I get paid after selling my iPhone?

After selling your iPhone to Tech Octopus we'll provide you with instructions on how to prepare your iPhone, how to package your iPhone safely, how to post back and what will happen next. All iPhones that we receive will go to our technicians who will put your device through our diagnostic software and testing process. This is where we'll check all the functionality of the iPhone and its condition. If everything is ok and the device is exactly as you've sold then we'll pay you directly into your account.

If you've chosen Bank Transfer then we'll pay you based on the details you provide and it should reach your account within 24 hours. If you've chosen to be paid into your PayPal account, then we'll transfer the money to your email address associated with PayPal.

If your device is different to what has been declared or we find any issues, we'll contact you to let you know. You can decide if you wish to proceed with the sale at that point, or whether you'd like to have the iPhone back.

Is recycling my iPhone good for the Environment?

Tech Octopus are passionate about the Circular Economy and ensuring that technology doesn't end up in landfill. By recycling your iPhone with us, you're doing your bit for the environment and we'll do our bit to make sure each device is given a second home and in the hands of a new customer. It's estimated that there's over 50 million mobile devices in drawers and not being utilised. By selling your iPhone you will help to provide a second lease of life to your phone and re-uses the technology.

How do you test my iPhone?

When you sell your iPhone to us, we promise to put your device through a Fair and Reasonable diagnostic process so that you trust that the price we offer you is not fabricated. That's why we use PhoneCheck...An independent diagnostic and data wipe software company who are industry leaders in device testing. They produce a testing report for every device processed, so if you're unsure about any faults or issues we find, we can provide a full report that outlines the tests undertaken and what (If any) issues/defects are found.
